The Proposal

Voters will be asked to approve a millage of 1.1 mills for five years beginning July 1, 2026 (for the Cities of Kalamazoo, Portage, and Parchment) and December 1, 2026 for (Kalamazoo and Comstock Townships). to support Metro’s public transportation system in Central County Transportation Authority (CCTA), including Metro Connect and Metro Share.

Why it’s needed

Metro Connect, also known as “dial-a-ride”, provides on demand transportation to Kalamazoo County residents, many of whom have no other means for transportation. Thirty-six percent of Metro’s budget comes from community support via millages. Throughout the pandemic, the service has been invaluable to help get riders to important medical appointments and to secure necessary items.

The election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 in the area services by the Central County Transportation Authority (CCTA).
